KELLOW, JOHNSTON and Fisher
Families of Jamaica, Queens.
I would like to communicate
with others searching Kellow, Johnston, and
Fisher families of Jamaica.
They were living there from about 1870 to about
1920, maybe later. Some
are buried in Kew Gardens Cemetery. Fred Fisher was
in World War I. Some lived
on Liberty Avenue. I know there are descendats of
these families still living
in the area. Please contact me.

John Macomber (born in Maitland
NS but living in Portland, ME) was a mate on the schooner "Benamin Cromwell"
out of Portland, Maine. He was lost overboard in a gale on February
22, 1904. It was reported he was lost at Bellport, Long Island.
The ship was not lost. I don't know if Bellport was the next port
of destination for the schooner or if he was physically lost at Bellport
or if that is where his body washed up. Is there someone out there
who could do a look-up in the newspaper archives or some other account
of this event? Thank you

I am searching for the grave
of my great-great uncle Herbert Plante. He served in the Navy and was killed
in the Pacific during World War Two. I discovered his military portrait

I have searched military
cemetery records from Long Island, without much success. Can anyone start

I am trying to find info
on grandfathers cousin, Issac Francis (Frank) Jones. He was
the son of Francis Wiley Jones and Elizabeth Jane Dike Jones. They
were married in Cold Springs, New York in the 1870's. According to
grandfather, he and Frank were U.S. Marshals in the late 1890's in Alaska
during the Gold Rush. Frank married a Mildred ?. We know they lived
in Brightwaters, Long Island, NY in the 1940's. Have picture of him
at his home. Mildred Jones visited with grandmother in Florida in
the 1950's or 60's. Really desire to find info or descendants.
Will complete my Dike genealogy. Thanks!

I am trying to find the
birth/baptism record for my grandfather, John W. Byrnes, who was borm 3
Aug 1835 (or 34, or 33 -- depending on which of his testimonials you believe),
in
Jamaica, Long Island, New York (or maybe Staten Island). He never told
the same story twice!
He married Kate (Catherine)
Hayes 23 Dec 1865, New York City. (He only told this story once).
His parents names were Peter
Byrnes, or Byrne, or Burns, and _______ Monahan, both born in Ireland.
The family was Catholic, and supposedly from Dublin.
He had two sisters, Eliza
and Maria.
I have no idea where to begin
on this. The records don't seem to be there. Can anyone help?
