Generation Two

Caleb (1640-1702)

Caleb Horton was the first white child born at Southold and he and his family settled at Cutchogue, Long Isand.  He became a freeman of Connecticut in 1664, and also was one of the owners of Plum Island.  On February 11, 1684 he was chosen with three others “to seate ye inhabitants of this Town (Southold) in ye Meeting House.”  There is much confusion as to the identity of his first wife and mother of his eight children…therefore she remains “unnamed” and his marriage to his second wife, Esther was with a prenuptial agreement dated April 26, 1699.

CALEB2 HORTON  (BARNABAS1)1 was born Abt. 1640 in Southold, Suffolk County, NY, and died October 03, 1702.  He married (1) <UNNAMED>2 Abt. 1665.    He married (2) ESTHER3 April 26, 1699.  She was born 1648, and died November 28, 1740.
