The Schooner C. C. Colgate, outfitted in 1867 at the Albert Thomas shipyard in West Haven ,CT.

    Capt.Franklin N. Van Brunt and the schooner C.C.Colgate left port sometime before 1869 and never returned.  His wife was Emily Aseneth Norton the daughter of Nelson Norton of Brookhaven. The Captain as well as his wife and son, Louis Grant Van Brunt (age 6) were on board and went down with the ship.

1.  FRANKLIN N.6 VAN BRUNT  (JACOB BERGEN5, JOHN4, JACOB3, JOHN2, RUTGERT1) was born March 14, 1834, and died 1869 in died in ship wreck.  He married EMILY ASENETH NORTON (NELSON17, RICHARD16, BRYAN15, TIMOTHY14, JONATHAN13, NATHANIEL12, NATHANIEL11, JONATHAN10, NATHANIEL9, GEORGE8, JOHN7, WILLIAM6, RICHARD5, JOHN4, JOHN3, SIMON2, JOHN1) daughter of NELSON NORTON and ELIZABETH ROBBINS was born January 16, 1833, and died 1869 in lost at sea.
