1665-1707 - New Amsterdam became New York City and a part of the British Empire at the Peace of Breda in 1667. This is a collection of 28 will abstracts of Long Island residents, originally published in the late 19th Century. Spanning the years 1665 to 1707, it includes records of early Dutch, Swedish, and Danish residents, as well as English settlers who came after the peace. Each record reveals valuable information about the individual, often about family members still living and witnesses to the will.

1771-1776 - Even as colonists became increasingly belligerent toward Great Britain in the early 1770's, New York remained one of the most important trading centers in North America. This database is a collection of 28 will abstracts filed by residents between 1771 and 1776.
